Bio
Melisa Henderson is an actress, presenter, dancer, singer and photographer. She was born in Sydney, Australia, to a Filipina mother from the province of Ilocos Norte, and a New Zealander father of Scottish and Irish decent.
Melisa has had a supporting role on Australia’s highly publicised TV mini-series 'House of Hancock' on Nine Network Australia.
Melisa has also been a series regular actor on GMA’s prime-time drama ‘Twin Hearts,' and ABS-CBN comedy sitcoms ‘Oki Doki Doc’ and ‘Da Body en da Guard’ in the Philippines, along with multiple guest star appearances on each network respectively.
She has also been a mainstay presenter on ABS-CBN’s ‘Keep On Dancing,’ IBC’s ‘Lunch break muna,’ and as a VJ on Pinoycentral’s ‘T20.’ Melisa was also a regular guest host on noon-time program ‘Magandang Tanghali Bayan.'
Melisa was well known in the Philippines for her dance performances, as the regular opening act for over 3 years on noon-time program ‘Magandang Tanghali Bayan,’ and as a mainstay host and dancer on weekly dance program ‘Keep On Dancing’ as part of a youth oriented dance group ‘The KOD Edge.’ Melisa’s dance styles include hip hop, street jazz, salsa and bachata.
Melisa has recorded two pop songs with Universal Records Philippines as part of a six member girl group ‘Flavors’ (Flavours). As a solo artist, Melisa has had singing guestings on ABS-CBN and GMA networks, and would tour the Philippines as a celebrity guest for various mall shows, meet and greets, product endorsements and other events.
Melisa spent much of her childhood between the cities of Perth, Sydney and Brisbane.
Melisa made her performance debut at the age of 6, performing on stage for the Johnny Young Talent school in Perth. She also participated in various rock eisteddfods, school choirs, drama and dance classes throughout her primary and high school years.
Upon graduating high school, Melisa moved to the Philippines to pursue a showbiz career. She was given her break when a friend introduced her to talent managers at one of the major television networks in the Philippines, ABS-CBN, where they immediately offered Melisa an exclusive talent contract, and placed her into full-time training within the networks in-house training program. A few years later, Melisa transferred to be exclusive talent for the GMA Network, and was managed by GMA’s Artist Centre.
Melisa is currently completing her Bachelor of Communication, has graduated from a degree in Tourism Management, and is undergoing continual training in acting with various well-known drama schools and acting coaches in Sydney. Personal interest studies include astronomy, science, philosophy, and culture.
Photography is a hobby for Melisa, where her photographs have been published in newspapers and various social media sites. Melisa specialises in travel and street photography.
Melisa has travelled extensively to over 55 countries around the globe, and after experiencing living in Dubai, Manila and various cities around Australia, Melisa is now based in her city of birth - Sydney. Born of mixed ethnicity and having lived and travelled around the world, Melisa has embraced herself as being a 'Global Citizen.'
